About Dovetail and Slate
We’re a specialist recruitment business dedicated to supporting the education and skills sector across the UK. Whether it’s colleges, schools, or training providers, our job is to connect talented education professionals with organisations that change lives. From lecturers and teachers to support staff and senior leaders — we deliver with integrity, insight, and real sector knowledge.
Since launching with just a laptop and a phone, we’ve grown into a national team with offices across the UK — and we’re still growing. Our success is built on genuine relationships, high standards, and a commitment to doing recruitment the right way.
What you'll be doing
As an Education Recruitment Consultant in our Manchester office, you will:
Take ownership of a hot desk focused on the Further Education and/or schools sector
Manage and grow relationships with a portfolio of education clients across the North West
Source, screen, and place high-quality teaching and support staff into temporary and permanent positions
Deliver a fast, reliable, and consultative service to both clients and candidates
Use your recruitment experience to manage the full 360° process – from business development and job qualification to offer management and aftercare
Stay on top of market trends, compliance requirements, and candidate availability to offer real value to clients
You won’t be micromanaged or tied to rigid KPIs. Instead, you’ll be trusted to run your desk like it’s your own business, with full support from your manager and a wider team that genuinely has your back.
What we’re looking for
At least 1 year of experience in education recruitment (schools, colleges, or similar)
Confidence in managing client relationships and building new ones through BD activity
Proven ability to place candidates and consistently hit targets
Strong organisational skills and a professional, consultative approach
A team player who wants to build something long-term and contribute to a high-performing culture
What you’ll get in return
£26,500–£30,000 basic salary (depending on experience)
OTE £45,000+, with uncapped commission
Monthly lunch clubs for high performers
Three all-expenses-paid team trips per year — past destinations include Marbella, the Alps, and Ibiza
Central Manchester office in a buzzing location with excellent transport links
